Blog Post #1 Rachel Miller EME2040
✎🍎Hi welcome to my blog!📚🎒
Hi everyone, my name is Rachel Miller and I am excited to be enrolled in this class this semester! This is a class for technology in the classroom and I am hoping to gain technological literacy and be able to successfully troubleshoot any technical difficulties I may face when using tech in the classroom. In classrooms, technology can be extremely helpful and even in some cases vital. However, with technology comes a great amount of skill and knowledge needed in order to use it effectively. This year I hope to master all forms of classroom technology including educational apps and games, presentation platforms such as "Canva" and also the grading systems that teachers use.
I have been in school for almost 14 years now so that gives me a great amount of experience with classroom technology. In my schooling experience from kindergarten to present day (college) I have used computers to access education games, used canvas to submit work, Microsoft word and powerpoint to create presentations, and searched browsers and library archives to access trustworthy information. I am extremely familiar with apps like "Canva" or word to create my own documents. I have written many emails to professors and peers. However I have never used any system to keep up with a blog or thread like "Blogger" or "Padlet" but I am looking forward to working on those skills this year.
My existing personal learning network is incredibly complex and widespread. I love learning about child development and education which I have learned about in school. My teachers, textbooks, and even real world experiences with children have taught me many things about being a teacher or caregiver that I will apply to my future career. I also love learning about animals and nature. My favorite animals at the moment are squirrels and I have learned about these animals from online articles and also real world experiences like feeding them and watching how they behave. Ive also talked to people who know about wildlife and that helped me expand my personal learning network. To continue learning more information on both topics (hobby and career) I find it beneficial to join groups who are specialized in those topics through online platforms, talk to individuals in person, and reading textbooks and articles.

ReplyDeleteHi Rachel! I enjoyed reading your post. I also love learning about education and child development, and I think those are an important part of our personal learning networks. I agree that we will learn a lot in this course that we can use in our future classrooms!
ReplyDeleteHow do you plan on balancing the use of technology in the classroom? Technology can be very helpful in the education process, but student can and will take advantage of that opportunity.
ReplyDeleteUnderstanding the grading systems and games you can use to stimulate your students are very good skills to acquire when entering the filed of education and I think you can accomplish these goals throughout this course. I love that you added real-world experiences into your personal learning network because they are often overlooked but can be very useful in learning. The rest of your network seems extensive and can give you a lot of knowledge on both your hobbies and career.
